Ryuk's Crazy Laugh

Ohba said that he always mentioned apples in the thumbnails because he wished to use \"the dying message that Shinigami only eat apples\" and therefore he needed Ryuk to hold apples and that \"There's no other reason.\" Ohba also said that he specifically chose apples as the red \"goes well\" with Ryuk's black body and that the apples \"fit well\" with Ryuk's \"big\" mouth.[1] When Obata informed Ohba that apples held religious and psychological significance and that a person could \"read a lot\" into the inclusion of apples and that he assumed that was the reason why Ohba included the apples, Ohba said that he did not \"think about that at all\" and that he believes that \"apples are cool... that's it. [laughs]\" Ohba added that he felt including aspects that could become later plot points was beneficial, and the apples were used as a point when Light asked Ryuk to search for the cameras in exchange for apples.[2]
Ryuk is characterized by his constant amusement by, and apathy in regards to, Light's problems as well as his interest in humans. He enjoys seeing Light overcome the various challenges put to him, and often waits until the worst possible moment to inform him of a certain aspect of the Death Note just to get a laugh. He is occasionally helpful if it serves his own interests, such as obtaining apples or furthering his own amusement, but for the most part will jokingly ask Light what his next move will be or have Light explain to him the point of a certain action. He tells Light in the first volume he doesn't always look at what Light writes because he finds it more amusing. Light describes Ryuk as a \"crazy-looking, supernatural creature with these wicked eyes\" who becomes (\"surprisingly\") a \"moral compass\" for Light in the film version of Death Note.[7]
Tsugumi Ohba, story writer of Death Note, said that Ryuk is his favorite Shinigami and that \"If I didn't say Ryuk here, his whole character would be in vain. [laughs][17] While praising Obata's artwork for the series, Zac Bertschy of Anime News Network singled out Ryuk as the prime example; describing him as \"a grotesque hulking beast, the kind of thing most people would probably think of when they're asked to imagine what a grim spectre of death would look like.\"[18] Briana Lawrence from the same website noted that despite being a vital character, Ryuk faded into the background as the series went on, only to become vital once again in the final chapter.[19]
In the film series, Ryuk is very similar to his canon self. The second film ends in much the same manner as the manga, except Ryuk pretends to be more cooperative by laughing together with Light over the fact that the Task Force can't shoot through his incorporeal form. Ryuk informs Light that humans who have used the Death Note are unable to enter either Heaven or Hell and shows Light his name written in the notebook. Light yells at Ryuk and jumps through him, trying in vain to stop his death, before dying in his father's arms. After Light's death, Ryuk asks L if he will to use the Death Note, and when L says that he won't, Ryuk calls L boring and flies away. He is last seen several months later, laughing and circling around Tokyo Tower.
Ryuk is briefly seen in the third episode of the miniseries Death Note: New Generation. He apparently delivers a notebook directly to Kira-worshiper Yuki Shien, who begins acting as a new Kira. The episode ends with Ryuk laughing and saying, \"Interesting.\"
Every episode presents a new game, and the characters take said games very seriously. So whenever victory is near, you can bet that Yumeko is about to unleash the most maniacal laugh onto her opponent.
Light dies yet again after choking himself and Light returns to life yet again, however this time Light starts laughing incredibly loudly and Ryuk thinks Light has already gone crazy from all the fear. Light reveals that after all the people he has killed he has a huge amount of time before he disappears and that it will be more than enough time for some plan he has in mind.
Light is cornered, and he suffers a mental break. Instead of falling apart, though, he breaks into wild laughter and gleefully proclaims himself as Kira. The looks on everyone else's faces shows what they really think of him, and Near isn't impressed when Light tries to justify his Kira career.
In the manga, people often die from a heart attack after having their name written down in the Death Note. However, Wingard's film opts for \"Final Destination\"-style, over-the-top, brutal kills, from having one of Light's bullies get decapitated after a ladder slices his head off, to having a gratuitous slaughter-fest in a Japanese nightclub. In a typical Westernized way, Wingard opts for style over substance and relies on empty shock value to appeal to the audience.
Indeed, humans are interesting and that's one of the perplexing facets of \"Death Note,\" even though the entire movie adaptation felt silly and forced to many. The overarching theme of justice, which is essential to the story of both the manga and anime series, is tossed aside in the film and there's zero reflection on morality by the end credits. It can be argued that Wingard's adaptation doesn't work well as a supernatural, gory thriller, considering that most of the dialogue was laughable and not believable. \"Death Note\" would have worked better as a live-action television series, a standalone piece of work, or a devoted rendering of the Japanese source material.
In any case, it has since devolved to the occasional evil chuckle (which may or may not be a bit scarier) or so every once in a while, except in certain cases, and the trope of laughing while your victim is helpless is definitely dead, as modern villains usually laugh while they work (to much better effect).A common subversion is to have a villain have an Un Evil Laugh, with snorting, chuckling and squeaking.
20. Despite its proven stress-relieving effect, I will not indulge in maniacal laughter. When so occupied, it's too easy to miss unexpected developments that a more attentive individual could adjust to accordingly.
Truth in Television: Passionate laughter, like screaming, is a great relief for stress and adrenaline with the added benefit of embarrassing and taunting self-conscious opponents. Just don't take it too far in public.
Lelouch: These hands of mine have been dirty for a long time now, Suzaku. Your coming to face me now doesn't matter at all. Hell, I welcome it even. I mean of course, you and I are friends.(starts laughing maniacally as the Tokyo Settlement collapses around him). [1]
Maybe it was the atmosphere, but something about it, the way that it simply lacked anything to do with the things that should motivate laughter... There was no warmth in it, no humanity, no kindness, no joy. It was like Mavra herself -- it had the withered human shell, but underneath it all was something from a nightmare.
{{quotePhoenix Wright: The record will show that when the verdict was announced, special witness Kristoph Gavin]]... laughed. A laugh louder than any ever heard before... or since. A laugh that echoed in the halls of justice, lingering for what seemed like hours.
Dr. Insano: You can't just start laughing maniacally at the end of every sentence! You have to earn it! You have to say something dramatic, like \"soon we will conquer Thailand, and tomorrow THE WORLD!\"Dr. Nye: (in movie) Today we conquer Thailand, and tomorrow THE ENTIRE WORLD! HAHAHAHAHAHA!(Insano, Spoony and the Spoony Bum start laughing maniacally)Dr. Insano: SHUT UP!!!
Zim: Now Dib, I leave you to your... eh...GIR whispers \"say 'moosey fate'!\" Zim follows the suggestion, looks like he can't believe he just said that, then nonetheless bursts into explosive evil laughter.\"Muhahahaha! Mhahahahhaa! MUHAHAHAHAHAAAA! HA,HA,HA,HA,HA- *ahem*... I LOVE EARTH!\"
Sadly for him, every interaction he has with the bald superhero only ends up in painful misfortune. No matter how many times he loses, Sonic always remains super determined to get an upper hand on Saitama. Even though his constant (and oftentimes painful) failing gives the fans something to laugh at. 59ce067264
