There is also the EP2700 (which is designed for true 35mm film and the price is not cheap, about $2,500), which is a true film scanner, but as you can read on the Epson website , it seems that no one sells the software that's needed for the EP2700 for home users, so this scanner can't be used by many people.
If you don't want to spend much money, then you can look at the price of the software. In your scanner's documentation, there are usually some specifications about the software (you have to look at the manual for that).
If you are using VueScan and you're doing OK with it, then try to use that software to compare with the others. It's not that difficult and you can see yourself, that it might be better. After a few months, you'll know if you can use the other software after all.
The newer models are the EP2000 (a scanner for Canon and Minolta and also for PD sheets, I think this was introduced as early as 2004 or 2005) and the EP2400 (this is a scanner that is extremely fast and you can choose between 4 different modes (standard, high speed, low noise and high resolution mode)) which is a true film scanner and is not a film camera. Unfortunately, I haven't seen these in action yet, but it is very likely that they are quite good.
But this doesn't work for every scanner. Look at the price and choose the most expensive scanner. If the price is too expensive, then it's probably much more expensive than the others, which is also good, so you can also consider the price of the others.
The Canon has a very good software, which can be used for large format scanning as well as for smaller size prints and film. VueScan is very good for printing and film scanning as well, as well as batch-processing.
If you have an Ilford SupraFinity (or F-scale) you may have the scanner with a super-fine resolution of 6000dpi. But, using this scanner, the images are totally uninteresting, and you can`t reproduce them later.
I also have a flatbed color scanner (Epson-1100) which can only scan paper, and it only has a maximum resolution of 400dpi (it is 600dpi with a color filter). However, it has a very good price, and I can quite easily edit the paper scans.
I am running a PC with Windows 7 and Adobe Photoshop CS6. I am wondering how to end the trial period and convert to a full copy of Photoshop CS6. I tried closing down Photoshop, which produced a message telling me to return the disk. I did that, but the same message returned. How can I end this?
